Final Project: Initial Ideas

 My first idea is to make a hot glue "statue" of a human figure with shards of mirror exploding from the head.  Hot glue may seem a weird material, but I've been using it for years to create 3D objects.  

This initial idea may be the one that I run with, I'm still uncertain.

    Hi Sylvia, your idea is so creative and extremely playful! I love being able to see your sketch along with the written portion. I'm wondering about the production, if it will be a gif or more of an illustration? I'm excited to see your progress, have fun with it! Good luck with the end of the semester, too! :)

    This seems like such a fun, and tactile process. I'm excited to see the kinds of forms this will create and its iterations with reflection. I'm curious how you will incorporate digital media, but looking forward to how this will develop in your final project! :)

    I think this is such an interesting idea! I love the idea of using mirror shards and think it will create some really interesting distortions and perspectives when documenting it. Do you plan on covering the hot glue base like with paint or leaving it as the semi transparent material? Overall, I look forward to seeing this statue develop!

Project 4: New Idea!

 After having some time to think about the assignment and what might be both a fun and creative project, I think I have found my idea!  I intend to make a small spiral-bound book, bound so that the pages can go 360 degrees around.  The book will have 24 pages, one for each hour of the day.  There will be no set start or end to the book, it will be a day cycle so you could open at any page and go through it.  For each hour (page) I'm thinking it will be a self portrait of sorts of how I'm feeling in that hour.  I'll take a few self portrait photos of the hour and paste them together collage-style.  For the backgrounds I would like to use abstract color to represent the feel of the hour. I hope that made even a little sense!
